World Vaping Day 2012

“Let’s celebrate the first World Vaping Day – a worldwide event recognising the phenomenal success of the new alternative to smoking!”

There are many ways to give up the smokes. I think it’s safe to say that almost everybody knows about Nicotine Replacement Therapy (patches, gum, lozenges, microtabs, etc) but unfortunately the research says they don’t work very well.

Electronic cigarettes are quickly becoming the number one weapon in the fight against tobacco-related deaths. We know they are “safe” (in the general usage of the word since technically nothing is 100% safe) as every test done on them so far has shown that any “dangerous” chemicals found have been in such low amounts that they present no known risks. Unfortunately with the local sale of nicotine based solutions being illegal in Australia not many people know about them.

Electronic cigarettes (or Personal Vaporizers as they are often called) allow smokers to continue the same rituals they enjoy, without the thousands of toxic chemicals present in tobacco smoke. Since nothing is burned there is no second hand smoke, and no offensive odours left behind from their usage. In short, they are the perfect substitute for somebody who doesn’t want to “quit” completely.

Now it’s time to spread the word.

Thursday March 22nd will be the first “World Vaping Day” and “vapers” across the globe are organising events at local pubs and clubs to show people that there IS a safe alternative to smoking.

Efforts are underway to host such Meetups across Australia. You can join in the current organisational efforts on the AussieVapers forum.

Information about events will be added as they are confirmed.
